What is the difference between a good carbohydrate and a bad carbohydrate ?

Good carbohydrates refer to carbohydrates that are digested slowly, maintaining healthy blood sugar levels. Good carbs are also called complex carbohydrates, and include whole grains, fiber, vegetables and starches. Good carbohydrates include simple sugars like those found naturally in fruits, some vegetables products, milk and dairy products. Bad carbohydrates are carbohydrates dissolve rapidly in the bloodstream, providing a minimum energy and increasing the levels of blood sugar. Bad carbohydrates include sugary drinks and desserts and processed.

Carbohydrates are classified as simple or complex. Simple carbohydrates include sugars such as glucose and fructose (found mainly in fruits), lactose (found in dairy products) and sucrose (found in table sugar). Complex carbohydrates include starch and fiber, which are digested more slowly, providing a sustainable source of energy without spiking insulin levels (or increase the risk of diabetes). While some carbohydrates are essential for health, others offer little more than empty calories. Good carbs, like those found in fruits and vegetables, rich in nutrients, low in calories, high in fiber and are digested slowly, making you feel full longer.
